A high-level introduction to LensCowboy — philosophy, platform, modules, how the pieces fit together.
LensCowboy is a multi-tenant AI content pipeline for film, advertising, and social media production. It connects Google Sheets (your control surface) to a curated set of leading AI image, video, music, and post-processing models — turning prompts into production-ready assets with one click.
Core Philosophy

LensCowboy is built on a single belief: AI should partner with filmmakers, not replace them.

Every part of the platform follows a hybrid philosophy — AI generates and curates, humans direct and override. The system is designed to sit alongside traditional tools, not compete with them. It plugs into Houdini, Unreal, and established VFX pipelines. It exports to USD, OBJ, FBX, and GLB. It respects the craft by keeping humans in the loop at every stage.

Every AI-generated suggestion can be overridden. Every ingested value can be edited. Every prompt can be hand-tuned or left entirely to templates. The pipeline has extraction and injection points throughout — you can pull scenes and assets out for use in other applications, and bring data back in from those apps. It's not a walled garden. It's a bridge.

The ultimate vision is a full timeline of every shot in your film — from script breakdown through 3D previsualisation to final AI-rendered output — with seamless handoff between human creativity and machine capability at every stage. Not a replacement for your cinematographer's eye, but an extension of it. Not a substitute for your editor's instinct, but a collaborator that can explore a hundred variations before breakfast.

Security and intellectual property are first-class concerns. Script data flows through a manifest system — only the descriptions you explicitly approve are submitted to AI services. Character details, plot points, and proprietary story elements stay under your control.

LensCowboy is built for filmmakers, by filmmakers. The grail isn't automation — it's augmentation.

The Problem It Solves

Modern AI content creation means juggling many separate models, each with its own authentication, request format, pricing model, and output handling. A single production might pull from a handful of different image, video, music, and upscaling tools — each requiring its own workflow, billing account, and manual file management.

LensCowboy unifies all of this behind a single Google Sheet. You configure what you want; the platform handles generation, post-processing, colour grading, and delivery to your Google Drive.

Platform Modules

LensCowboy is modular. Each module handles a different aspect of production:

Pipeline
The core generation engine. Reads your Google Sheet, resolves prompts, dispatches to AI vendors, and delivers media to Drive. Image, video, music, 3D.
PAL
Previz and Layout. 3D spatial intelligence tool for scene assembly, camera direction, storyboard export, and AI render.
LCBE
LensCowboy Bid Engine. Production cost estimation, crew scheduling, and client-facing bid documents. Integrates with Pipeline for cost tracking.
Hub
Project management hub. Project dashboard, client management, and cross-module status at a glance.
Breakdown
Script breakdown tool. Parse scripts into scenes and shots, tag elements, and export shot lists to PAL for 3D previsualisation.
2D Pipeline
Chained image and video editing. BG removal, upscaling, restyle, compositing, LUT application — with automatic dependency resolution.
How the Pieces Fit Together

A typical production flow moves through the modules in sequence:

  1. Hub — create a project, assign a client, set up the team.
  2. Breakdown — parse the script into scenes and shots.
  3. PAL — build 3D previz scenes, direct cameras, export storyboards, render AI stills.
  4. Pipeline — generate final images, videos, and music from the previz.
  5. 2D Pipeline — post-process, edit, composite, and upscale.
  6. LCBE — cost the production and generate client-facing bids.

Each module can also be used independently. You don't need PAL to run the Pipeline, and you don't need a Breakdown to use PAL.

Multi-Tenant Architecture

LensCowboy is SaaS — each subscriber gets their own Google Sheet (copied from a master template), their own vendor API keys held securely, and their own Drive folder structure. Tenant isolation is enforced at every layer: per-tenant secrets, per-tenant data, per-tenant Drive permissions.

Vendor Ecosystem

The platform supports a wide and growing set of leading AI image, video, music, and post-processing models. The full live catalogue with pricing is in the in-app reference.
